Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. Retainory has no sign-in. Everything you study lives on your device.
Where are my flashcards stored?
On your iPhone. Your cards, schedules, and review history are never uploaded to us, which also means we can't restore them for you. Deleting the app deletes them permanently.
Will my cards move to a new phone?
Only if the data is included in your device backup when you transfer to the new phone. There is no account-based sync in this version.
A generated flashcard is wrong.
Cards are drafted by an automated language model and can be incorrect. Edit or delete any card that doesn't match your source material — and if you're seeing consistently poor results from a particular kind of document, send it our way and we'll look at it.
Flashcard generation failed or is unavailable.
Generation needs an internet connection and depends on our servers. Reviewing existing cards works offline. If failures persist, email us with roughly when it happened so we can match it to our logs.
What do you collect about me?
Very little, and nothing tied to your identity. The privacy policy spells it out in full.
Does Retainory cost anything?
No. It's free, with no ads and no subscription.
